Selected event highlighting updated
J Werner here, with a small update.
I''ll be logging all updates regardless of size. I'm doing this not only to keep you informed, but so I can track updates and remember what I did and when.
The update today is the way selected notes are highlighted.
When selected, any notes that don't belong to the current scale are highlighted. Previously the highlight was a "crawling ants" moving dashed line. But the appearance was not good, since the size of the dashes varied with the size of the note display. This was due to all instances sharing the same material, along with the tiling settings. This allowed animating the positioning of a single material to create the movement. To make the dashes the same size, the tiling would have to vary for each instance. And in Unity that would require a new material for each note, completely ruining performance.
The highlighting has been changed. Instead of a dashed line, the highlight color fades between black and white. This enhances the appearance, plus maintains the performance of animating a single material. In fact performance is enhanced, because texture mapping is no longer necessary. The effect can be achieved with a simple color material.
This enhancement will be available in version 6 and beyond.
